CDTI EEA GRANTS PROJECT

ECO FLUORTEX – R & D OF TEXTILE FINISHES FREE FLUOROCARBONS FOR OUTDOOR FABRICS USE.

R & D Free Fluorocarbon finishes for outdoor fabrics is a project carried out through the EEA Grants and funds whose aim has been to develop new hydrophobic and stain resistant silicone-based and intended primarily for outdoor fabrics finishes. This project was carried out with the intention and motivation to find a replacement to current fluorocarbon-based hydrophobic finishes, which are characterized by having a degradability negligible, being classified as POPs in nature. The work has yielded satisfactory through the research of new free fluorocarbon compounds to characterize the tissue for hydrophobic properties and stain solutions. This result allows the company to offer an alternative and environmentally less harmful product, which gives this new textile finishing an important added value in the market.
